Veterans Affairs

Serving in the military can expose people to intense experiences that are often traumatic, and that can sometimes lead a person to struggle with an addiction or certain mental health concerns. At Highland Ridge Hospital, we offer an array of treatment options that help veterans heal from those experiences, allowing them to transition successfully back to civilian life.

Serving Veterans

People who serve in the military typically encounter all kinds of harsh conditions and extreme situations. They often suffer from sleep deprivation and may witness things like natural disasters, injuries, and death. These experiences can take a toll on a service member’s mental health and have a lasting negative impact on their life.

At Highland Ridge Hospital, we are proud to help veterans heal from the effects of these experiences so that they can live productive, fulfilling lives. We support veterans who are struggling with mental health concerns such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety disorders. We also offer programming for veterans who are struggling with addictions to substances like alcohol, cocaine, and opioids.

Everyone responds to their experiences in the military differently, so it’s essential that each person receives the level of care that meets their specific needs. We offer two levels of care for veterans who seek support at our hospital in Midvale, Utah: inpatient treatment and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Before starting treatment at Highland Ridge Hospital, you will undergo an initial assessment, which will allow us to determine what conditions need to be addressed and which level of care is right for you.

Therapies & Services for Veterans

Every veteran who receives care at Highland Ridge Hospital follows a treatment plan that we personalize based on a comprehensive evaluation of their needs. This evaluation will involve us asking you questions about your medical history, any past treatment you have received, your current symptoms, and your goals for seeking care with us.

We offer an array of therapies and services for veterans that have shown to promote the very best outcomes. Depending on what your care team recommends, your treatment plan may include:

  • Detoxification services
  • Medication management
  • Round-the-clock nursing care
  • Daily group therapy sessions
  • Various experiential therapies
  • Individual or family therapy

Everyone heals in their own way, so we use many different approaches when we work with veterans who come to our Midvale, Utah, hospital. Our programming is trauma-informed and integrates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Those who are struggling with addiction may also engage in the 12 Steps of recovery as part of their treatment.

Healing is not a solo mission. Your care team will walk beside you every step of the way to ensure that you successfully reach your treatment goals.

TRICARE & TriWest

Financial concerns should not keep you from reaching out for professional support. Highland Ridge Hospital is served by TRICARE and TriWest, which allows veterans to access the mental health and addiction treatment they deserve.

A knowledgeable member of our team can work directly with TRICARE or TriWest to verify your coverage and make sure that you receive the benefits you are entitled to.
